| British Aikido Board |
|
The British Aikido Board is the governing body for Aikido in the UK. The Lancashire Aikikai is one of about 34 Associations that are members - having joined in 1989. Some Associations are regional like ours - others are nationally based. The Governing Body requires insurance to be held through it - for all students and instructors. Students have a package that covers member to member liability; as well as personal accident benefits and public liability. Instructors carry insurance up to £2m. The Board runs a Coach education programme which the Aikikai supports. In fact Bob Spence (6th Dan) our Principal is one of the Board's Coach Tutor and Andrew Baird the Aikikai General Secretary was for ten years the Board's Coaching Liaison Officer upto 1999. The Board's site includes a club directory for all Clubs that belong within the Board; as well as other details. A downloadable areafor BAB Minutes and documents has recently been formed (Nov 2003).
