CPD for Coaches, Assistants and some Helpers
The Aikikai believes that it is important to develop coaching skills so that its Coaches and others can progress to higher Coaching awards offered by the BAB and also ensure skills and knowledge are both current, appropriate and serve also to underpin existing practise.
Mr Spence, our Principal has indicated that:
Coaching Sessions for 1st Kyu and Dan Grades would be set up:
- in some courses by splitting off from course
- some specific organised evening stand alone sessions;
- Dan Grade & 1st Kyu courses
and will act as CPD
Expectation of attendance a minimum of four sessions over any two years. This requirement will be built into the Permission system.
Initial length will be 30 minutes to a hour covering such items as coaching elements - reminding/re-enforcement - group work, communication, feedback, reinforcement, grading levels- moderation, techniques – standardisation; grading standards as well as looking at people teaching.
Sessions organised will be advertised on the Aikikai calendar it is intended to organise at least 4 opportunities in anyone year.
Attendance at one general course per year is also expected to maintain permission. (Matters relating to Permissions are at Principal's discretion)
