Coaching & Club Insurance


The BAB has from 1st March 2011 switched provider to Endsleigh. They announced this in their letter of 17th March 2011

The changes means that instructors/coaches and assistant will be run on the same system and charges as if a student. The difference comes that each club is to register and pay a single fee to cover all their coaches, officials and committee members. Instructor Insurance
All Coaches who take classes unsupervised with classes must be insured via the BAB Insurance scheme (blue slip) as a "Full Instructor & Student" and the venue been declared to the BAB via the Aikikai Insurance Officer.

Taking classes - A BAB Coaching Award Level 1, 2 or 3 is required to be covered by the BAB insurance scheme. Any one who doesn't hold this qualification must not be taking any class unsupervised. If the Coach teaches those under 18 years then additionally a current CRB check is needed via the BAB. (See Child Protection) Additionally the Aikikai requires a first aid qualification

For the avoidance of doubt in the Lancashire Aikikai anyone carrying out a role must hold the permission of our Principal of the Association

There are no cost or application process as insurance is handle through Club Liability paying a single premium


Incident/Accident Reporting by Clubs / Instructors/Coaches
Coaches should note the BAB now operates a incident reporting system rather than a claim form. Visit the BAB web site Appendix G above and also our page dealing with this matter.


"Assist Only" instructor's The Aikikai does not require First Aid for these "Assist only" but does require a CRB check and formal permission from our Head of Association


Clubs - Liability Insurance
BAB require details of all clubs to be registered – please continue to advise the BAB Secretary in writing of any changes / additions to your club list. This should be done through Sam Wilson .

Any new location should be registered before conducting classes.

The cost is £55 for a year from March 2011 and is paid by a Club to Sam Wilson our Insurance Officer


Officials - Liability Insurance
BAB require details of Officers and Officials to be supplied to be covered under their Association policies. This should be done through Sam Wilson our Insurance Officer
