Coaches should note the BAB now operates a incident reporting system rather than a claim form. Visit the BAB web site Appendix G above and also our page dealing with this matter

Those who hold a BAB Coach award and help the instructor can be registered free as “assist only” for the insurance protection under strict conditions. Please refer to the Insurance guidelines above................ a part of which is reproduced at the end of this page

The Board continues to secure the best deal for P.I. Insurance for instructors and over the years have recommended Perkins Slade or Sport Coach UK according to their best terms and cost. Currently the BAB for 2005/6 recommends only Perkins Slade.

Each quarter following 1st March, the annual fee is reduced proportionally. All cover expires end of February.

Perkins Slade Prices for £2m cover for Level 1 Coaches - since 2005/2006 and held at same level 2008/9. The Aikikai membership includes student insurance and the figures below are abated to reflect this has been paid for already.

March – May: £50 (12 months cover)
June – August: £37.50
Sept – Nov: £25
Dec – Feb: £12.50

New for 2008/09 are differential rates for the Coaching Level a person holds. The £50 above refers to a Level 1 coach; Coach level 2 = £40; Coach level 3 = £30

Remember cheque's are to be made payable to Lancashire Aikikai.
Question 4 is the blue slip number.

Insurance through Sport Coach UK is not recommended by the BAB but Coaches can join for their other benefits.

"Assist Only instructor's -- Many holders of the BAB's "Coach award only assist with instruction, even though they are qualified to take charge of a class. Where these Coaches (or Assistant Coaches), have no intention of taking charge of a class & only require insurance to cover assisting a fully qualified / insured Instructor, there is no need to purchase additional P.I. insurance.

Perkins Slade is prepared to provide indemnity cover to registered "Assist Only Instructors", at no cost, providing the following conditions are met:

* They hold a BAB Coach qualification of "Assistant Coach" or above.
* They only work under the direct supervision of a fully qualified BAB Coach who is a current holder of P.I. insurance.
* They hold current ---Member to Member" liability insurance (a BAB's -Registration Certificate" or -Brown Slip---).
* The students within the class all hold 'Member to Member" liability insurance.
