Transcending Duality.

Contempory Western culture is dualistic.Everything is divided into good or bad, right or wrong, friend or enemy, win or lose, this or that and competition follows- it results in making constant judgements and this creates trouble in society as well as in individual life.

If one wishes a life of peace and harmony, duality must be transcended and the world of oneness attained.

Oneness does not mean sameness, each one is unique and absolute - each one has his own beuty and value.

Peace and freedom exist only in the world of oneness - the absolute world.

This can be achieved by practicing and training - to understand the principle of aikido physically and mentallyand not as a foreign sport or exotic form of self defence, limited to its physical aspects of winning or losing.

In aikido we control the opponents mind before we force him, that is we draw him into ourselves.

We go forward in life with this attraction of our spirit and attempt to command a whole new view of the world.

We ceaselessly pray that fighting should not occur - for this reason we strictly prohibit contests in aikido.

Aikido spirit is that of loving attack and peaceful reconciliation, in this aim we find and unite opponents with the willpower of love and we are able to pacify others. M.Mucha.

The Chorley Budo Club was always proud of its junior section that was not only due to dedication of our teachersÊ but also the effort of our 3rd kyu and above helping with the instruction on the junior mat. I hope that this help will not decline and everybody will make the effort mainly on Saturdays to come early to help with the juniors.

Also I wish to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year in Aikido.
