As I have not received any contributions for this News Letter and also I have had no time to write, I am going to tell you a story which I heard when I first started in Aikido.

Long ago a master trainer of fighting cocks was ordered to train a cock for the Emperor.

After ten days the Emperor asked, "Is my cock ready to fight?"

"No, your Majesty, it is wild and searching for opponents."

After another ten days passed, still the answer was, "I have not finished yet with it, it still gets excited when he finds another cock and looks at it with daggers."

After another ten days the master trainer said, "I think your cock is ready now your Majesty, for however noisily other may crow or however persistently other may challenge the cock doesn't get excited, it stands as if it were a wooden one."

Just as the master had said not a single cock dare to fight against it, all slipped away at first sight of it.
