CRYSTAL PALACE - FRIENDSHIP PRACTICE 28 OCTOBER 1989
This course was organised by the BAB and gave each member organisation the chance to demonstrate its particular style. The venue at the Sports Centre was very impressive with a massive mat and an attendance of 300 to 400.
Some of us arrived a little late, and then slipped on to the mat to try to find a space to practise. Each instructor had a 20 minute slot and there were about 12 instructors. The actual content of the demos varied between KI exercises and two-man techniques, with much emphasis on KI and reference to AIKIDO as a martial art.

There was some very good instruction done in a variety of ways which featured some different ways of doing things. Everyone had the opportunity to have a very good practice, with people outside of their own organisation. The day finished with each instructor giving a quick demo of one technique (although some did more!), and then an open bow by everyone.

The BAB hope to run another similar course next year possibly at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. EDITOR

CHORLEY COURSE - 10 SEPTEMBER 1989
The course was very well attended with about 30 people on the mat. It was interesting to note that most of the people were beginners, and the course was accordingly pitched at a suitable level - the high grades still got their high-level practice!

GRADINGS

Gradings were conducted at the end of the practice with the following results:

Grading details were published in the paper version - Not published online under Data Protection Provisions

CLUB NEWS
Hyde

I was recently informed that due to the activities of the JUDO instructor, he had been asked to leave, and was taking his mat with him! I was a little dismayed by this, and immediately set about trying to find another one. I succeeded in finding someone who knew someone who had some spare gym mats, and am currently waiting to arrange collection.
Meanwhile, I have found out that the mat allegedly belongs to Hyde Lads Club and should be staying! The Club, and the story goes on . . . !

Hazel Grove
The demo at Stockport Town Hall has produced very good results. Lots of young people, and some adults 'had a go' on the day, and there were many enquiries. Hoewever, and more importantly, when I took the Sunday class a fortnight ago there were 10 people on the mat, and I only knew one of them! They are all keen and are continuing to practise.

Chorley
It was recently the Principal's birthday (MR MUCHA is 70 years old) and to mark the occasion, he was presented with a gold engraved pen. SENSEI is one of the most experienced instructors in the country and has taught AIKIDO for over 30 years. He is also 3RD DAN in JUDO. Today, his power, spirit and techniques are as good as ever and bely his age.

He continues to practise and instruct, and is always ready to help people, or criticise when it is needed. He is an example to us all and a true follower of the way.
