Lancashire Aikikai
Lancashire Aikikai was established in 1967.
It is operated on a voluntary basis by its members, for its members.
It unites clubs throughout the North West of England and Wexford, Ireland.
We practise traditional Aikido under the direction of our Technical Director - Mimuro Shihan (7th Dan).

All our UK instructors are accredited and insured through our national governing body, the British Aikido Board

Atsushi Mimuro Shihan

Director of Yokohama International Aikido. (est 1997). He trained for more than 25 years under Seigo Yamaguchi Shihan.
Mimuro Sensei has been practising Aikido for over 50 years, including a period in Tahiti (1991 to 1993). He has been teaching aikido more widely overseas since 2008.
He has been associated with the Lancashire Aikikai through seminars hosted by our Marple Club since 2009, and in 2015 he became Lancashire Aikikai's Technical Director.

Andrew Baird Sensei

Started Aikido at Reading University in 1973, he moved to Stockport in 1976 and joined Lancashire Aikikai.
Trained under Mucha Sensei and Spence Sensei.
He started Hazel Grove Club in 1978 and moved to Trafford in 1989. Baird Sensei has trained over 25 students to 1st Dan.
He has held Lancashire Aikikai posts at various times and was BAB Coaching Liaison Officer from early 1990’s for ten years.
