Lancashire Aikikai - Head of Association
Andrew Baird Sensei 6th Dan, Level 3 BAB Coach
Started Aikido at Reading University in 1973 under Ron Russell and Haydn
Foster Sensei's of Institute of Aikido. For my job moved to Stockport in 1976
and trained under Lancashire Aikikai; Marian Mucha Sensei (Chorley) and
Bob Spence Sensei.(Manchester then Chorley).
Trained on courses taken by Saito, Chiba and Doshu and more locally Bill
Smith and Terry Ezra.
Trained over 25 students to 1st Dan. Started Hazel Grove Club in 1978 moved
to Trafford in 1989 opening a new club leaving Hazel Grove Club to Keith
Downs.
Held Lancashire Aikikai posts at various times; Secretary, Newsletter editor ,
Membership, BAB Rep and member of its Executive 2010 to 2016.
BAB Coaching Liaison Officer from early 1990's for ten years – formulated
Coaching and implemented in the BAB with Spence Sensei.
